Welcome Message

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure and honor to welcome you to the fourth international conference of the renowned series “Fokus DaF/DaZ – Current Trends in Research and Teaching” at the German Jordanian University (GJU). From December 2 to 5, 2025, our university will once again become the center of a high-level academic exchange in the field of German as a foreign and second language. The School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS) is organizing this event with great commitment to provide you with an inspiring and enriching conference experience.
The “Fokus DaF/DaZ” conference has established itself as an international forum that brings together teachers, researchers, PhD candidates, and Master’s students. It provides a platform for professional exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, networking, and valuable opportunities for further education in this central area of language teaching and language learning research. We are particularly pleased that renowned scholars and representatives of major textbook publishers have accepted our invitation to give keynote lectures, present their research findings, and conduct practical workshops.
This conference is part of a very special event: the 20th anniversary of the German Jordanian University. Since its founding in 2005, GJU has developed into a leading university in the region, known for its practice-oriented education, close cooperation with the German economy, and intercultural approach. Over the past two decades, the university has not only provided high-quality academic education to students but has also significantly promoted academic and cultural exchange between Jordan and Germany. We are celebrating this anniversary with a series of events that honor the achievements of our university and provide a glimpse into the promising future of GJU.
In addition to the scientific discourse, I would like to introduce you to Jordan, a country known for its hospitality and cultural diversity, and at the same time, home to a rich history and breathtaking landscapes. Take the opportunity to discover the Hashemite Kingdom beyond the conference rooms: visit the legendary rock city of Petra, the Dead Sea, or the fascinating desert landscape of Wadi Rum. Jordan is a country of peace and dialogue, actively working for stability and understanding among nations in the region. In this spirit, we warmly welcome you and invite you to enrich yourself not only professionally but also culturally.
I wish you a successful conference, enriching discussions, and unforgettable impressions in Jordan.
Prof. Ala’aldeen Al-Halhouli
President of the German Jordanian University
