Jordan Pass
What is the Jordan Pass?
The Jordan Pass is a type of ticket that provides free entry to 40 different attractions and sites when traveling to Jordan. In addition, purchasing the pass offers other benefits, such as waiving visa fees. With the introduction of the pass, Jordan aims to attract more tourists to the country.
Does it affect visa fees?
In addition to free entry to the country’s main highlights, the Jordan Pass also has the advantage of waiving the visa fees for a tourist visa. Depending on the current exchange rate, you can save about 51 to 56 Euros (40 Jordanian Dinars) on the visa.
How much does the Jordan Pass cost?
The financial benefit is immediately clear when looking at the cost of the Jordan Pass. There are three different types:
- One-Day Pass (Wanderer) for 70 Jordanian Dinars
- Two-Day Pass (Explorer) for 75 Jordanian Dinars
- Three-Day Pass (Expert) for 80 Jordanian Dinars
If you take a look at the entry prices for the 40 included attractions, the Jordan Pass quickly pays for itself—even if you only visit a few of the sights.
How do the three types differ?
The different types of the Jordan Pass differ in how long you can stay in the famous ancient city of Petra.
With the One-Day Pass, you can explore this UNESCO World Heritage site for just one day. With the Two-Day Pass, you can stay for another day as an “Explorer,” and with the Three-Day Pass, you can stay for three days as an “Expert.” Otherwise, the passes are identical—the included attractions are the same for all three versions.
Requirements & Conditions
To purchase the Jordan Pass, you must stay at least three consecutive nights in Jordan—even if you only buy the One-Day Pass for Petra. If you want to visit Petra as a day tourist, the cost is 90 Jordanian Dinars. To ensure that the Jordan Pass indeed waives the visa fees, it must be purchased before entry and presented to the officials at the airport.
Where can it be purchased?
It is best to buy your Jordan Pass in advance—either from home or in accommodation with a printer—since it can be purchased online at www.jordanpass.jo and then printed out. You will need a credit card (Visa or MasterCard). The Jordan Pass can be downloaded immediately after purchase and will also be sent to you by email. The easiest way is to use the pass with QR codes on your smartphone.
